B&P Fundraiser: ASRC food security appeal
B&P Fundraiser: ASRC food security appeal
Story
Dear Buildings & Property colleagues,
Please join us for a slice of cake to celebrate our March & April birthdays, combined with a fundraiser for charity. This month's charity is The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).
The ASRC is Australia’s largest human rights organisation providing support to people seeking asylum. They have just launched an urgent food security appeal this month to address a critical shortage of essential supplies. Dual cost-of-living and fuel crises have driven up grocery prices while donations decline, placing immense pressure on the ASRC Foodbanks in Footscray and Dandenong that thousands of people each month rely on. Other food relief organisations across Victoria are reporting the same pressures.
While all contributions are valued, monetary donations have a greater impact than goods, as the ASRC can purchase essentials in bulk. This buying power ensures your generosity goes further. Your support will help ensure families facing extreme hardship with no other safety net don't go hungry.
Please bring a gold coin donation to support this worthy charity, or donate online.
Join us next Wed 22 April @ 2:30pm in the B&P main kitchen. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our February Birthday Afternoon Tea and fundraiser - with your help we were raised $102.90 to support youth homelessness charity The Lighthouse Foundation!
ASRC Footscray (Asylum Seeker Resource Centre)
The Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) is both a place and a movement.
As an independent not for profit organisation, we are owned and run by our community. Our programs empower people seeking asylum to maximise their own physical, mental and social well-being. As a movement, we mobilise and unite communities to create lasting social and policy change for people seeking asylum in Australia.
We assist over 7,000 people seeking asylum each year from our centres in Footscray and Dandenong, Victoria.
