Story

Hi there!

Amanda Russell are her team are making a difference by fundraising for a cause close to her heart. We'd appreciate any contribution, big or small.

We're raising funds for research into Australia's most lethal gynaecological cancer - ovarian cancer. The 5 year survival rate for ovarian cancer in Australia is just 48%, meaning those diagnosed get less than half a chance of surviving 5 years from their diagnosis. We want to help change the statistics and give those diagnosed with ovarian cancer a greater chance of survival. Research is the answer and Frocktober supports the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) - the leading non-government funder of ovarian cancer research in Australia.

Each donation made from a Stockland employee will be doubled by the Stockland C.A.R.E. Foundation and remitted directly through to the OCRF.

Many Stockland employees have been touched by cancer, with some losing those who were dear to them. Cancer is an illness that has greatly affected Amanda's mother's side of her family with 2 relatives lost to ovarian cancer and having recently supported her Mum throughout her own cancer journey.

Fashionista Amanda is putting her bursting wardrobe and love for theme dressing to a great cause! Amanda is committing to Frocking Up with a different dress for every day of October 2022!

    Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation

Every eight hours, one woman dies from ovarian cancer in Australia. The key to changing this statistic is early detection.

Ovarian cancer is an insidious disease, often known as a “silent-killer” as symptoms are vague and often strike without warning. Unlike many other cancers there is no early detection test.  Consequently ovarian cancer is often diagnosed in its late stages and only 29% of these women will survive beyond five years of diagnosis. In comparison, survival rates increase to 90% when ovarian cancer is detected and treated early.

The Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation is Australia’s pre-eminent ovarian cancer research body. Our goal is to raise ovarian cancer awareness and vital funds for the development of an early detection test that will save women’s lives.

We receive no government funding and rely on the support of our community and business supporters to assist in driving our research forward.

Together we can raise awareness of ovarian cancer in Australian communities and the importance of developing a detection test that identifies the level of ovarian cancer in a patient and its extent of advancement. A test that can greatly improve long-term survival rates of Australian women.
