Story
Hi there!
In acknowledgment and Celebration of National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day (August 4th) and Indigenous Literacy Day (September 2nd), SDN Linthorpe St are fundraising for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. The Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) is a cause that's close to our heart. The ILF work in over 400 remote communities wherein they run programs aimed at closing the Indigenous Literacy gap.
These programs and initiatives are inclusive of, but not limited to:
-Providing books to remote communities
-Operating community libraries
-Community ran daily storytime sessions
-Producing and publishing books written by Indigenous people, for Indigenous people. These books are important because they represent Indigenous culture, community life and language.
We'd greatly appreciate any contribution, big or small.

Indigenous Literacy Foundation
Being able to read opens so many doors. But in very remote Indigenous communities, books are all too scarce and literacy levels are much lower than anywhere else in Australia. Our purpose is to make a difference to the lives of Indigenous families by not only gifting thousands of new culturally appropriate books - with a focus on early literacy and first language - but also by running programs to inspire the communities to tell and publish their own stories.
Please visit our website for more information about our programs.
